Politics is a funny beast. It's a great deal of posturing and promises with very little payoff. I have the fortunate honor (or unfortunate honor) of capturing the beast in action tomorrow night during a live senate debate for what promises to be a hotly contested seat (not anywhere near my voting district, as it turns out). Now I admit to having tuned into a city council meeting a time or two, if for no other reason than to watch a circus of stars I consider more akin to a dysfunctional family than a functioning political body. A good friend and talented on air personality has often said that city government is the only true politic: non-partisan, commonality of cause, so on. Frankly to me it's more of a laugh than the
Improv on a Saturday night (and much cheaper...though I miss the 2 drink minimum).
So tomorrow I drive to the beast, hear his (and her) words, and perhaps have a little laugh at the banality of it all.
